Monday Night Raw May 27th, 2013 - Review

This week's Raw was way better than what we have got for the last 3 or 4 weeks. I think the in-ring action was solid, Some great segments as well. Haven't wrote a Raw review article seen the 6th May Edition of Raw. Raw seems to be really weak in the month of May since few years and this year was no different. However, I thought Last night's Raw was really great. As always, I will give my thoughts and opinions about each match or segment. So Let's go...

Raw kicked off with the WWE Champion John Cena. He wasn't on Raw last week so He made his "return" this week. He received the usual mixed reaction from the crowd. John Cena announced that His match vs Ryback at WWE Payback will be a 3 Stages of Hell Match with 1st being Lumberjack, 2nd was Tables and last was Ambulance. I really like the 3 stages of Hell matches but these stipulations are really weak In my opinion. The Ambulance match is the last fall just because I think Cena refused to go to the Hospital after Extreme Rules and The story is He will make him, Not really high but The 3 Stages of Hell should bring some Interest in the match at Payback. After Ryback leaves, Outcomes Paul Heyman and his new client Curtis Axel. Cena and Axel exchanged some words and Issued a challenge, Cena accepted. Our main event is John Cena vs Curtis Axel. Not a bad segment to kick off the show.

Decent match between Big E Langston and Alberto Del Rio. Langston got the win over Del Rio last Monday, and Del Rio got his win over Langston on WWE Main Event which nobody actually watch. So this match was a "rubber match" to even the score-card. Del Rio got the win over Langston, and after that AJ and Big E argued in the ring. I don't know what is this leading to. Dolph Ziggler will be making his return to Monday Night Raw next Monday so I hope we see something different between Del Rio and Ziggler other than the repetitive matches between Langston and Del Rio.

Nice match between Dean Ambrose and Kofi Kingston for the United States Champion. These two can pull of a great match If given enough time. Ambrose thus far is doing a great job as a singles superstar. I just hope since this was a United States Champion mean, Kofi Kingston gets no more title shots. Looking forward to whose next to challenge Ambrose for the United States Title.

Excellent match between Shield and Team Hell No. They have had some amazing matches, and Love how WWE gave enough time for the match. This match was for Tag-Team Championship so I guess this was the last time we'd see this match as well. I love the matches these four have but I think Payback PPV card needs fresh matches. Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins retained the Tag Team Champions. I wonder If this will lead to a Kane vs Daniel Bryan match at Payback or both go their separate ways which would be good for Daniel Bryan as much as I love Team Hell No as a tag team.

Decent match between Fandango and Wade Barrett. The Miz was the special guest referee for this match and He was a really fair referee. Barrett shoved Miz during the match, causing Miz to hit his SCF on Barrett. Fandango picked up the win and was attacked by Miz after the match as well. They really have made Barrett look like a joke in recent weeks but at least He is getting into a feud now. We will most likely see Fandango vs The Miz vs Wade Barrett for the Intercontinental Champion at WWE Payback.

Khali/Tensai/Brodus vs 3MB. There is always that one match on Raw that makes you want to go and sleep, This is just that. When was the last time 3MB won a match? I'm sure It has been more than a year. They acknowledged that It was Natalya's birthday and Khali sang a Birthday song for her. Sure, This was one of the worst birthday ever for her.

The Highlight Reel segment with Chris Jericho and Paul Heyman absolutely brilliant. Jericho is gold on the mic and Heyman is always a genius so It was really an entertaining Highlight Reel. I thought this whole segment would be about Curtis Axel but I was surprised that Jericho brought Punk up. Jericho issued a challenge to CM Punk at WWE Payback and Heyman accepted. Everybody Including myself were really happy to hear about this match taking place but I honestly think It won't happen. The CM Punk vs Chris Jericho match will turn into Curtis Axel vs Chris Jericho at the PPV but CM Punk will probably make an appearance after the match or some other way. I just don't think Punk will be wrestling Jericho at Payback, I don't even think Punk will return. WWE can have Punk come and have a little cameo just because It's in Chicago and disappear again which would make his return more special. The more weeks - the better in my opinion. Overall, a great segment.

Pretty decent match between Kaitlyn/Natalya and The Bella Twins. 5 minutes or less - It wasn't anything special but I wasn't expecting much anyways. Nothing significant happend except Jerry Lawler admiring all the Divas while commentating. They made Natalya look like a joke which is sad but I won't say She deserved to be treated better because It was her birthday.

Good match between Orton/Sheamus and Rhodes/Sandow. It seems like WWE has nothing for Randy Orton at the moment hence why He is being in random matches and now is also a tag team partner with Sheamus. Rhodes and Sandow losing again. Since Shield has no other team to face at Payback (except 3MB), I think It will be Orton/Sheamus vs Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins. Orton turns on Sheamus at that Pay-per-view. Everyone happy.

Our Main Event was John Cena vs Curtis Axel who beat Triple H last week. Something strange was happening during this match, Not many were paying attention. A Fight broke out in the crowd - Shout out to Canadians. Glad Axel/Cena didn't lose their control and continued the match. Match was pretty much 10 minutes or so, Ryback came out with the Ambulance which caused John Cena to go out from the ring, Cena was counted out. Curtis Axel beats the WWE Champion John Cena even If It was by count-out. Even though The spotlight wasn't really on Axel last week, At least this week wasn't like that well kind of. They did had Cena/Ryback continue their feud but Raw ended with Curtis Axel. You can whatever you want, Axel can claim He has beaten Triple H and John Cena.

Pretty great edition of Monday Night Raw. I really enjoyed It - Shield match was really good. The Highlight Reel segment was really entertaining. Overall, Great episode of Raw in my view. I'd give a 8.5 out of 10.
