Monday Night Raw August 5th, 2013 - Review

Raw kicked off with Stephanie McMahon. She showed Bryan getting groomed. D Bryan came out and cut a fantastic promo. It was almost like a Punk promo about what kind of champions WWE want. Bryan saying He will make Cena tap out was a big statement. Looks like Vince/HHH will be part of this Cena/Bryan storyline, and they might play a huge role in the winner at SummerSlam. Good segment to kick off the show but It went for around 20 minutes, Which is pretty long.

Rob Van Dam vs Alberto Del Rio

Oh look Ricardo is back from a "severe Injury". This is a Smackdown rematch from few weeks ago, which lasted about a minute. So I had no problem with this match happening again. I wasn't surprised seeing RVD pick up the win but ADR turning on Ricardo was definitely a surprise. They have been together for three years, so I think It is finally time for a split. Also I could see Ricardo costing ADR the match at SummerSlam.

Winner: RVD

Good segment between Damien Sandow and Cody Rhodes. Crowd barely reacted which isn't much of a surprise. I love their storyline at the moment, I have been Interested In It. I think they should've announced the match for SummerSlam during this segment. I am excited for their match at SSlam.

Mark Henry vs Ryback

WrestleMania 29 rematch. But the difference this time is, Mark Henry is a face and Ryback is a heel. This was a pointless match, Seriously tired of this same uncreative finish. I was thinking May be Shield would attack Henry but that didn't happen either. Just a pointless match.

Winner: Mark Henry

Great promo from John Cena. He cuts fantastic promos when He is serious and this was one of those promos. He addressed Daniel Bryan, and responded to his points. Those "boring" chants were just stupid, 1.) That was not a boring promo and 2.) That crowd shouldn't be calling any segment boring. Randy Orton Interrupted Cena and told him yet again that He might cash in at SummerSlam. Shield coming out was a nice surprise, Bryan making the save was expected. Great six man tag team match set for the main event.

Wyatt vs Brodus Clay and Tensai

Another pointless match but It was good to see Luke Harper & Erick Rowan in action. Kane and Bray Wyatt's words of exchange after the match was good, It seems like It will be Kane vs Bray Wyatt At SummerSlam in a Inferno match. I have no problem with It, I am excited for this storyline.

Winner: Luke Harper & Erick Rowan.

Kaitlyn vs Layla

Layla turned heel on Kaitlyn on Smackdown one week ago so this match was logical. AJ distracted Kaitlyn, which caused her to lose. Layla won the match - I am fine with It, She is better as a heel anyways. She wasn't doing much as a babyface anyways other than coming out every week and standing ringside (TV Time Yay). AJ and Kaitlyn skipped around the ring after the match, Seems like they will form a team now.

Winner: Layla

Christian vs Heath Slater

The #1 contender for the World Heavyweight Champion does not get a entrance. That is just stupid. Christian won the match with the spear. No surprise He won because Slater is a jobber anyways and I wasn't expecting Christian to lose since He is the #1 contender. I was kind of surprised that Del Rio didn't attack him after the match.

Winner: Christian

CM Punk vs Curtis Axel

This match wasn't that good because It wasn't even that long. The match was forgotten once Lesnar came out. The brawl between CM Punk and Brock Lesnar was awesome. Another great brawl. Punk keep fighting back was really good to see - Crowd liked It and this was probably the only thing that they were awoke for through out the night. Lesnar once again got the upper hand on Punk after giving him a F5. Great segment.

Winner: Curtis Axel

Paul Heyman challenged CM Punk to a match on Raw next Monday. I doubt the match will happen but It's a good way to build the SummerSlam match.

Kofi Kingston vs Fandango

Kofi Kingston is back! Unless you watch the PPV pre shows. This was another short match, and I wasn't surprised that Kofi won. I just hope they do something Interesting with him now, because I don't want him to win his 90th mid-card title again. Please, thank you.

Winner: Kofi Kingston

The Usos vs The Real Americans

Decent match that lasted about 4 minutes or so. I thought The Usos would win the match since they have been pushed in recent week but I had no problem with Swagger and Colter winning. I hope they can be contenders for the Tag Team Champions.

Winner: The Real Americans

Dolph Ziggler vs Big E Langston

Another match between these two, They did this last week as well. I was surprised at first because I thought this match would take place at SummerSlam but It seems like that's not the plan anymore. AJ and Kaitlyn Interfering will likely lead to a mixed tag match at SSlam. Kaitlyn and Ziggler vs Big E and AJ.

Daniel Bryan & Randy Orton & John Cena vs The Shield

I was expecting this match to be really good but they didn't give enough time so It wasn't that good. It was rushed since they didn't had enough time. I wasn't shocked that Orton RKO'd Bryan but I don't know why He RKO'd Cena. May be a Heel turn is coming? we don't know. I knew they would tease the cash-in but Shield stopping Orton didn't make much sense to me. The Shield standing tall was a good ending to the show, since They haven't been the main focus for few months.

Winner: Cena/Orton/Bryan - DQ

Overall, Raw was decent. Too much fillers but Some good segments. I liked the opening segment though It went for a bit long, Cena's promo, Sandow/Cody, Wyatt/Kane, Lesnar/Punk's brawl was awesome and a fine ending.
